JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Carboline is looking to hire a Field Technical Service Engineer to cover various parts of our Gulf Region seeking candidates located near New Orleans or Baton Rouge. This position will be responsible for traveling to job sites providing guidance and technical support on startups, problems encountered on the job, and coatings inspections on various Carboline products. This individual will assist with routine in-house work such as product evaluations, equipment maintenance and panel preparations. This is a very hands on role requiring frequent travel and heavy interaction with customers, applicators and the Carboline sales team. When not traveling in the field, this position will work out of their home office providing technical support through phone calls and email. This individual will need to be very familiar with linings, coatings and fireproofing products with prior experience working in the industrial coatings industry. Individuals with NACE certifications are highly preferred.
Minimum Requirements
5+ years Technical Service experience within the Industrial Coatings and or Fireproofing Industries
Preferred Requirements
Valid Passport; NACE Level 1, NACE Level 2 or NACE Level 3 (SSPC or AMPP)
Physical Requirements
This position requires occasional physical activity. May require lifting up to 75 lbs on occasion. May require computer usage for an extended period of time - up to 8 hours in a day. Be able to climb and meet the requirements of a 1A Ladder. Occasional exposure to various chemicals. Will require travel of 50% plus, including nighttime and weekends. Must be able to pass a respirator fit test & maintain respirator requirements.
Duties
Preparation of panels prior to coating. Have a good understanding of the basic operation of hand tools, power tools, abrasive blast cabinet and pin welder. To include minor maintenance of same. Responsible for maintaining a stock of standard panel systems. Provide documentation for panels which will be tested. Spray nuclear testing orders upon certification. Package and ship sample panels. Starting position in Field Service, will handle routine field jobs within capabilities. Travel approximately 50% of the time. Contact customers / salesmen to gather pertinent data prior to field trips. Demonstrate proper use of mixing equipment, airless and conventional spray equipment, etc., to apply Carboline or SPC products in the assigned divisions. Interpret surface preparation standards per specifications. Demonstrate use and techniques involved with inspections equipment. Train supervisors, inspectors, and painters in the above technical areas. Assist in application of new or revised product evaluations, new equipment evaluations. Carry out procedures as defined in the Technical Service Procedures Manual. Perform assigned routine office duties as required for department function. Calibration Technician / Maintenance Engineer (Air & Torque Tools) required for a permanent position in the Chester / Deeside area. Competitive salary (DoE) + excellent benefits, see below. The Air Tool Calibration Technician will be working circa 39 hours (Initially Mon – Fri days then likely to move to rotating double days shift pattern i.e.6-2/2-10 with shift allowance paid).

Primary Purpose of the job: Responsible for undertaking various maintenance activities and calibrations to Customers specification and ISO900 accredited in accordance with Company Procedures, UKAS regulations and recognised specifications.
Maintaining relevant records of work, data and results in a traceable and auditable manner utilizing our customers tooling management systems.
Day to day duties of the successful Air Tool Calibration Technician include:
Safe and effective use, maintenance, calibration and repair of air tools used to build aircraft in in the aerospace industry.
You will be responsible for the preparation and provision of test specifications.
Handling technical enquiries and liaising with clients where necessary.
Receiving and registering any work as necessary.
Completing test schedules & technical reports to effect optimum efficiency of the calibration area.
Maintain relevant records and data.

To be suitable for this Air Tool Calibration Technician role you must have the following experience / characteristics:
Prior experience of using air / pneumatic and torque tooling.
Recent mechanical maintenance / mechanical fitting experience.
Good communication skills.
Good PC literacy.
The ideal Calibration Technician / Maintenance Engineer (Air Tools) will have the following skills / experience:
Completed a relevant mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
Relevant mechanical / maintenance qualification such as C&G / NVQ / BTEC Level 3, HNC, HND etc.
Experience of repairing / maintaining electric / cordless hand tools, service / hire equipment etc.
Recently or currently repairing / maintaining air tools such as Avdel Bottle, Cherrymax Bottle, Huck Puller / Swager, Nut Runner, Pin Gun, Pulse Gun, Torque Screw Driver, Torque Wrench, Torque Wrench Adjustable used to build aircraft in in the aerospace or automotive industry.
Experience of hand vibration testing equipment.
Inspection or Calibration experience.
Aerospace or Automotive experience.
