The Machine Shop Team Leader, based in Kent will report into the Operations Manager and you will lead the team within the machine shop to manufacture small batch, special and prototype items ensuring that the maximum utilisation is achieved through the effective deployment and management of the CNC Setters and Operators.
Main duties & responsibilities:
Lead by example and provide leadership to the machine shop team.
Program, set and operate CNC Mills and Lathes and act as mentor and trainer on their use.
Operate manual lathes and mills and act as mentor and trainer on their use.
Create work packages using the ERP system and monitor progress through the shop.
Carry out Daily Start Up Meetings and allocate and manage tasks assigned to the team to meet the requirements of the Plan.
Monitor and report on the situation relating to the performance of the team.
Measure and record appropriate metrics to support relevant KPIs. Use these KPIs to determine appropriate actions to improve the performance of the team.
The successful Machine Shop Team Leader, based in Kent will have experience in the manufacture of machined components in a small batch or prototype environment and will have experience in leading a team.
You will also:
- Be able to understand exploded drawings and adhere to written work instructions and route cards.
- Able to create work packages.
- Able to program and set a wide range of CNC mills and lathes.
- Able to use manual lathes and mills.

Respond to initial enquiries including showing potential hirers for the Centre around, answer the telephone, replying to e-mails, using online tools etc.
Ensure all processes/procedures are implemented.
Produce monthly reports, letters and other documentation as directed.
Ensure effective maintenance of the building – including maintenance programmes, ensuring the supervision of contractors and others regarding work in the building in line with the safe system of work.
Financial management to include – developing/manage the Centre’s budgets to ensure income and expenditure are in line with targets, financial systems are adhered to, and financial information is prepared for the annual audit.
To apply for relevant grants and funding for the Centre’s to ensure financial sustainability of the Centre(s) and expand on the current range of services etc.
Staffing - recruitment/Selection of Staff and daily management, motivation and development of staff, carrying out performance reviews etc. Ensure salaries/hours worked are summited accurately and on time to payroll.
Ensure all Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines are met and maintained and that approved safe system of work (including Permit to Works) are adhered to.
Coffee Shop Management – work with the Coffee Shop Manager and have an oversight over the general day to day operation and financial management of the coffee shop whilst continuing to develop the business within the coffee shop as a social enterprise.

You must have previous experience and knowledge working within the automotive industry. You will be computer literate with good and accurate attention to detail. You will have experience and confidence using parts on-line catalogues over a wide range of vehicles, including electric / hybrid vehicles. Training will be provided for on-line systems.
You must be able to work to a high standard in a fast-paced environment, which requires multi-tasking and flexibility in your approach. You will need to be agile in an ever-changing environment with the ability to lift and move parts, boxes and cages of various size and weight throughout the day.
A clean driving license essential for the role.
About the Job
Due to continued growth and success we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced parts assistant. You will be responsible for allocating vehicle parts into stock, booking vehicle parts onto the body shop management system – Autoflow and chasing vehicle parts orders. You will explore Parts-Link24 catalogue for identification of replacement parts and will liaise with suppliers to request delivery dates, arrange returns for credit, and assist the whole team with part queries. An annual stock take audit will be required and may involve evening(s) or Saturday to complete.
This role will all be under the guidance of the Parts Manager to collaboratively work together as-well as individually to maintain an efficient and orderly parts and sundried department.
Driving may be required to pick up and deliver parts.
Training will be supported on Autoflow, Parts-Link24 and Manufacturer systems.
