In conjunction with the Manager of Diagnostic Services, assist in the training of other field personnel on diagnostic tools, techniques, processes, etc. Proper completion of all services and related paperwork. Year 2: You will experience more practical training within the workplace at Ipeco, via rotating placements. During your work placements, you will document work that you complete, and review this regularly with your Ipeco training supervisors. You will also attend Weston College for one day each week and build upon your Year 1 learning and development. Training and experience will be in: Layup, Preform, Assembly, Inspection Control and Planning Control.
You will continue your BTEC Level 3 Diploma & EAL NVQ L3 in Composites Engineering.
Year 3: You will experience further Ipeco placements in Pre-Form and our new Press, Project Management and Process Management. During your focused placements, you will continue documenting work that you have completed, and review this regularly with your Ipeco training supervisors. You will still attend Weston College for one day each week and complete your assignments.
You will achieve your BTEC Level 3 Diploma & EAL NVQ L3 in Composites Engineering.
Year 4: This is where you will commence on-the-job training in your final department(s), with a View to Placement (VtP). In house the apprentice will spend a month each with the maintenance engineers in the Heavy Forge, Machine Shop and Die-Plant. After that they will have 4 weeks working within each department on the operations team, so they get a good working knowledge of how each machine should operate. Working alongside our highly trained technicians carrying out MOT’s, car servicing and repairs for over 1 million customers a year. These practical, highly skilled roles ensure we deliver dealership quality work on any make or model of car. As a Halfords Apprentice you will master a range of technologies across all kinds of cars – building valuable, career enhancing knowledge.

There are 2 opportunities available, and the successful applicants will complete a structured training programme, with work placements in teams across Test & Facility Operations at Ricardo UK. During the apprenticeship, there will be opportunities to learn how to build, install and test powertrain systems including engines, hybrids, batteries and electric motors. Working on real projects from day one, the apprentice will be helping to deliver engineering programmes for our customers including some of the world's most prestigious automotive and industrial companies.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Following the route from prototype build through installation to test.
Learn practical skills including fabrication, hand fitting, machine tool operation and assembly on a range of prototype engines and other complex products.
Learn about electrical subsystems and instrumentation techniques.
Work in the powertrain and vehicle text facilities learning to configure and operate the systems used to control the facility and produce high quality test data
Perform maintenance and software configuration tasks, repairs and component updates on the powertrain or vehicle, according to the needs of the customer.
Practical skills training will be supported by an appropriate academic qualification, delivered using a range of methods including College-based lessons and projects. It is expected that the successful candidates will already have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and components along with knowledge of how software is used in modern products.Training:
