The Role
The administration and processing of aftermarket products returned as warranty goods, maintaining databases, and liaising with claimants and suppliers.
With further training this role will progress to include the inspection of warranty products.
The efficient, courteous, and timely handling of queries received by telephone and email regarding products, their availability and application.
Create and control product bulletins in a timely manner.
Maintain and update various logs and prepare reports for management as required.

Understanding of analytical tools such as Gauge R&R Studies and Measurement Capability Studies. Experience with material testing and generally accepted laboratory practices. Very strong problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization including manufacturing plants, technical and management personnel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. ASQ Six Sigma certifications are preferred.

Position Summary:
Work in the Research & Development Laboratory Fire Resistance Testing Group, testing and evaluating fireproofing product applied to test articles. Reports directly to the Lab Manager.
Essential Functions:
Handle and prepare all test samples for product application (welding, capping, thermocouple installation, etc.). Able to properly handle large scale test samples (W-flange beams and columns, hollow steel sections, angles, channels, corrugated steel decking, etc.). Able to learn rigging techniques of steel samples for proper storage and handling. Install test samples into large scale furnace following proper safety and laboratory procedures. Perform testing of samples per nationally and internationally recognized test standards. Evaluate results and report them accordingly to Lab Manager or more senior personnel. Remove all test articles from furnace after testing. Keep area clean and organized at all times. Perform additional duties as assigned Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, 1-year college, or minimum 2 years fabrication/welding shop experience. Welding/Fabricating Skills: Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Knowledge of steel fabrication techniques, including but not limited to, cutting and brazing using Oxy-Acetylene torch and plasma cutter.
Desired Qualification:
Knowledge of welding techniques, including but not limited to, gas metal arc welding (MIG) and shield metal arc welding (Stick). Tungsten inert gas (TIG) not required; however, a plus. Certified Welder certificate not required; however, a plus Proof of welding skills will be required as a pre-requisite for position consideration.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting up to 100 pounds; exposure to chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, Silicates, and certain inorganic compounds. Personal protective equipment will be utilized as required by internal lab procedures. Must pass annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test as required by OSHA. Must be able to work in confined spaces using proper PPE. Wear proper PPE at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, safety glasses, hard hat, working gloves, steel toe shoes, ear protection, and welding PPE. Able to work in a warehouse environment, operating forklifts, bridge crane, walking up and down stairwells.

Qualifications and Previous Experience:

IT Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages- ability to maintain inventory records electronically. Knowledge of SAP is a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategize and innovate safety management, resolving high-level issues in collaboration with shift supervisors.
Lead comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
Identify, analyze, and spearhead initiatives to mitigate complex safety concerns.
Expertly manage DAKOTA software for comprehensive compliance, incident reporting, and safety management.
Champion the development and implementation of \"standard work\" practices, leading the LEAN culture.
Oversee Engineering Tier activities and accountability boards, and lead daily GEMBA Walks for advanced education and communication.
Drive productivity improvement by strategically eliminating non-value-added activities using advanced engineering principles.
Ensure equipment efficiency at the highest levels, participate in the facility Quality Improvement Council (QIC), and provide expert quality training to operators.
Lead and ensure the successful completion of high-impact process equipment projects.
Act as a key member of the facility's Quality Improvement Council (QIC), leading initiatives to identify root causes and prevent future customer complaints.
Manage large-scale projects with substantial budgets.
Serve as a senior mentor to less experienced engineers, guiding them in complex projects and career development.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: 4-year degree in engineering.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: 7+ years of experience.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift up to 25 lbs.
