The role
Fugro’s Systems Department based at our office in Wallingford are seeking an Electronics/Instrument Engineer to join the team. The team specialise in monitoring, measuring, and providing advice on renewables and oil and gas infrastructure projects in Europe and Africa.
As an Electronics/Instrument Engineer, you will need to have a fundamental understanding of computer architecture operating systems and networking principles. A knowledge of electronic and electrical principles is also essential as well as a good knowledge of oceanography. The successful candidate, after training, will be expected to take a lead on site visits, with responsibility for planning operations as well as health and safety where you will also act as a liaison.
Using the latest oceanographic equipment, on industry leading projects, you will get to work in a hands-on environment, where the ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing project needs are integral. Although you will be required to have an equipment and operations focus, project management opportunities will be available if this were an area you would like to pursue.
Knowledge of documentation structures and approval engineering process would be beneficial.
The role will require frequent ad hoc travel and working offshore, typically lasting between 5 -10 days a month.

The role
As Graduate Engineer, you will be given the opportunity to experience a whole range of engineering disciplines and work assignments over your initial 2-year development period. These include onshore assignments across Project, Design and Structural Engineering disciplines where you will develop the skills and knowledge supporting you to transition from an academic to a professional role.
In addition to office-based work, there will be opportunities to experience both hands-on workshop and offshore assignments, expanding your industry and operational knowledge in support of your development as an Engineer. Various technical and non-technical training courses are provided via the Fugro Academy to supplement your on-the-job learning.
Supporting you on your Graduate Engineer journey is a supportive and experienced, multi-disciplined engineering team, many of whom are Chartered Engineers, along with engineers from previous years Graduate Engineer cohorts. You will be assigned a mentor that will work with you to shape your development and support you as you work towards your own professional registration.
The engineering team provides a wide range of innovative engineering solutions in support of Fugro’s and our Client’s subsea operations across oil & gas, renewables, and decommissioning projects. This ranges from the design of bespoke subsea equipment and ROV tooling innovations to developing intervention methodologies and providing offshore operational support.
We are looking for enthusiastic, creative individuals who show a passion for learning and collaborating in a team environment to deliver successful projects. After two years as a Graduate Engineer, you will be given the opportunity to specialise in your preferred role within the engineering team, with a defined career path.
