A highly regarded and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Solicitor or Fee Earner to join their expanding team, specialising in military claims against the Ministry of Defence and industrial disease matters. The Role
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of both litigated and pre-litigated claims, primarily involving military personal injury cases and, where required, industrial disease matters. These claims are often complex and high value, requiring strong technical expertise and a commitment to excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a caseload of military claims and industrial disease cases, including both Short Tail and Long Tail diseases
- Manage fast track and multi-track claims through to settlement or trial
- Draft legal documents and pleadings with a high level of accuracy
- Ensure cases are progressed in line with internal KPIs, client service levels, and court deadlines
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant case law
- Conduct negotiations, prepare for hearings, and attend court where appropriate
- Contribute to the profitability and performance of the team through sound file management
- Maintain excellent communication with clients, experts, and other third parties
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements

- Minimum of 3 years experience in personal injury litigation
- Solid experience handling military claims and industrial disease cases, ideally involving the Ministry of Defence
- Strong drafting and advocacy skills
- Excellent knowledge of the CPR, cost budgeting, and case management procedures

- Proficiency in using a case management system (Proclaim experience desirable)

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Design Engineer based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire:
Design and modify RF-based electronic assemblies for VLF/LF communication systems.
Oversee projects from concept through to production and delivery.
Manage sub-suppliers for components and mechanical services (box-build, machining, etc.).
Investigate and diagnose faults at component and trace level on new and field-returned PCBs.
Generate detailed reports, technical documentation, and engineering change notices (ECNs).
Ensure compliance with company health & safety, environmental policies, and quality standards (ISO 9001).
Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of electronic and electrical design at the component level.
Background in analogue design and low-noise circuit design (LF radio experience advantageous).
PCB layout design and familiarity with assembly processes.
Proven fault-finding skills down to trace/component level.
Experience with mechanical drawings and sub-assembly integration.
Familiarity with obsolescence mitigation in long-life electronic systems.
Experience within an ISO 9001 design and manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics, Physics, or a related discipline.
Extensive experience in electronics design or support within commercial or defence sectors.
UK citizen with no restrictions for UK Security Clearance.
