In house the apprentice will spend a month each with the maintenance engineers in the Heavy Forge, Machine Shop and Die-Plant. After that they will have 4 weeks working within each department on the operations team, so they get a good working knowledge of how each machine should operate. Example 4 weeks in the Heavy Forge with the operators understanding how 9 Press should operate. They will then spend 5 months with the Maintenance Engineers in the Heavy Forge learning how to service and repair the equipment within that department. At the end of this, the apprentice should have a good working knowledge of Somers Forge from a customer enquire through production, inspection and despatch to the customer
