Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Test Technician, you will be a crucial member of the team, ensuring the quality and precision of our optical fiber products. Reporting to the Test and Quality Manager, your responsibilities include:
Operating proof test machines, performing length checks, and conducting fiber scraping.
Conducting various Geometric and Optical measurements on optical fiber products, using standard work instructions and specialised software on precision test equipment.
Accurately logging results in preset spreadsheets and in-house databases.
Monitoring measurement trends and promptly reporting any irregularities to the Engineering team.
Performing basic maintenance operations on test equipment when required.
Continuously improving your skills to enhance measurement accuracy.
Suggesting and participating in continuous improvement projects and activities.
Effective communication with engineering and test technician shift teams to ensure precise and accurate handover information.
Full compliance with all written policies, procedures, and instructions, highlighting any inconsistencies to your line manager immediately.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C (4) or above, or equivalent, including Maths and Science.
Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written, with a minimum level of B1 (where relevant)
High degree of dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Quick learner with an interest in the study of measurement.
Positive team-working skills and a proactive approach to communication with colleagues.

Position: Utility Technician Position Summary: Responsible for production and compliance assigned duties. This includes but is not limited to batch and process manufacturing, compliance responsibilities, inventory control, bulk material handling, and packaging. Specific Requirements: 1. Works with Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, other Utility, and the Corporate Compliance Manager in the safe handling of the equipment and chemical intermediates in both storage and use in production. 2. Understand and demonstrate compliance with HMIS, SDS's, HAZCOM, General Safety, HAZWASTE, LO/TO, PSM, PPE protocol, and proper housekeeping. 3. Management of Waste Water including: monitor and reporting of tank volumes, compliant and effective loading of the outbound water trailers, sampling tanks and trailers, neutralization when necessary, and weight tickets for outbound trailers. 4. Management of Storm Water including: Monitor and reporting of storm water in containment areas and reporting to Corporate Compliance Manager, Sampling Storm Water and logging samples into laboratory, compliant and effective discharge of the Storm Water, and completing the cycle of required documentation including the Storm Water checklist back to Corporate Compliance Manager. 5. Housekeeping Specific assigned areas and duties. 6. The Role
Tracing frames, transferring shapes and Blocking lenses to customer requirement
Edging on Manual edgers and assembly of Metal, Plastic, Supra and Rimless frames
Edging and assembly of bespoke frames
Verifying out completed orders to ISO standard and Customer requirement
Achieving Department KPI’s(glazing yield, Return Yield, Frame Breakage)
Priortising orders by delivery date
Supporting colleague and team (In particular the Assembly Glazing team)
Verifying in lenses to optical ISO standard and customer requirement
Requirements
Previous experience working within an optical glazing laboratory environment
Ability to work as part of a team in a proactive and supporting manner
Ability to use manual focimeter to include marking up of lenses
Extensive optical lens knowledge
Excellent practical knowledge of tracing
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines and targets
Attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret alpha/numerical writing to an exceptional level of accuracy
Excellent written and oral communication skills
They currently have two different shift patterns available;
Mon to Fri - 8am to 4pm - £24,500 plus 6% bonus
Mon to Fri - 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm - Bi weekly- £23,500 plus shift allowance (£2040) + 6% bonus
