Some of your daily duties will include:
Collection and return of washing up and waste for disposal
Grading, sorting and washing up of laboratory glass and plasticware
Operation of autoclave for making safe waste for disposal, sterilisation of glass, plasticware and media
Operation of hot air oven for sterilisation of glassware
Removal of waste material to waste bins
Preparation and sterilisation of liquid media (for cell culture) and distilled water stocks

We are looking for an energetic Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to join our specialist fragrance business based in Grantham. Positive and enthusiastic with a can-do, problem-solving attitude, you will have a strong focus on order and quality and have a flexible approach to learning.
The key focus of the role is to operate in our, purpose-built production facility producing specialist industrial fragrances and therapeutic cosmetic products to supply some of the world’s leading brands. Working as part of a small, supportive team, the role will report directly to the Laboratory and Production Supervisor.
The ideal candidate would have a background or knowledge of industry/manufacturing/or science. There will be a strong focus on delivering against KPI’s aligned to production schedules. Knowledge or experience of continuous improvement of processes would be also be beneficial, but not essential.
This is a varied role. Day to day, you will be involved in all aspects of producing a small range of fragrance products, including quality control within the laboratory whilst simultaneously supporting the business growth strategy by working in busy production periods. Main areas of responsibility:

To undertake safety checks as required and comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation and school documentation. This to include carrying out appropriate risk assessments for practical and technical activities.
Ensure Implementation of health and safety regulations across the subject area.
To assist in ensuring that all equipment and materials are stored safely and securely, ensuring that they are maintained in good condition, with clear records, and readily available for issue.
To dispose of used chemicals/hazardous waste in a safe manner as well as ensuring that hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained in the laboratory and preparation areas.
To undertake basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and to organise its construction, cleaning, servicing and repair as required in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Keep up to date with health and safety regulations and with developments in practical science, attending relevant courses and reading publications.
