Mechanical Design Engineer

CAD Engineer 

Salary up to £35k (DOE)

Monday to Friday

The purpose of the CAD engineer is to be involved in the Design of new products, improve existing products and assist 3D production.

To support the Engineering Manager and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with various tasks.

To provide product-related technical support both internally and externally.  

Key Responsibilities

- To innovate new products and improve existing product

- To engineer products using best practice industry methods such as Design for Manufacture and Assembly, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) etc

- To produce 2D/3D drawings of products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks

- To liaise with the sales team to provide internal / external technical support, including answering technical questions from the sales team, troubleshooting issues, and updating documentation/BOM’s as necessary

- To ensure products are engineered to comply with the required industry standards.

- To liaise with other departments to ensure the best outcome for the company and its customers.

- To bring to the attention of the Engineering Manager any problems, such as quality issues, complaints etc.

The Right Person

The successful CAD Engineer will have experience in the following areas:

- Apprenticeship time served or equivalent – in manufacturing / engineering / design environment

- Minimum 4 years’ experience of working within an engineering/design environment

- Experience of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other 2D/3D drawing packages

- Able to read drawings and use measuring equipment
