Designer

A Designer is required for a reputable principal contractor in the roofing, cladding, curtain wall & glazing sector, based in Portsmouth.Key Responsibilities:To work on a total design solution specific to each project.

This will be done by ensuring compliance to client’s recommendations/requirements and company procedures.

Will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed, and reporting to the Design Manager for the project(s).The main duties of the role are as follows:

Commence Design based on handover notes & and information whilst ensuring the durability of this process matches the programme.


Aid in the collation of Technical Submissions for client’s approval.


Liaise with external sub-contractors for Engineering packages for wind load, structural integrity, profiles, cladding supports, etc.
Collate and produce Specification drawings, layouts, detail drawings, and bulk material scheduling for client’s approval, whilst ensuring the design meets current legislations, standards, and codes of practice.
Review and amend the initial drawing package according to the client’s comments if necessary.
Liaise with the site team to ensure drawings comply with existing site conditions, sequence of works, and buildability.
Issue/ reissue Approval drawings for approval
Update drawings to construction, according to comments received.
Produce fabrication drawings and material scheduling.


Regular site visits to supervise/ ensure installation is according to details produced.
Attend weekly project meetings to discuss installation progress, positive lessons learned and discuss any blockers that may require RFI’ng to client
Update drawings to As-Built status.

The Candidate:

The role is client-facing so the candidate must be able to adapt and communicate with all levels.

Must be able to get along well with others in the company and be able to communicate with an array of external stakeholders.
Extensive knowledge of façade design, CWCT, Building Regulations and other legislation.

A creative dynamic individual who is both adaptive and proactive to tackle design challenges as they arise.

Architectural metal work
Cladding
Render
Steel Frame Systems
Flashings and Bracketry
Windows and Doors
AOV’s and Louvres





Must have +2 years of facades experience.
Must have a degree, HND or equivalent, ideally in a design or construction-related subject.
Must have high standards of numeracy, oral and written communication skills, and be able to demonstrate a capability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively and on own initiative.
Membership to a professional body is desirable not essential.
