Primary SEND Teaching Assistant



About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, situated Tameside.

As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities and thrive within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties.
Assist the class teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of SEND students.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Utilize a variety of strategies and resources to differentiate instruction and accommodate the diverse learning needs of students with SEND.
Collaborate effectively with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), classroom teachers, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the needs of SEND students.
Promote positive behaviour management techniques and implement personalized strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours.

Requirements:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a primary school setting, preferably with experience supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND, coupled with patience, empathy, and resilience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
Knowledge of relevant SEND legislation, policies, and best practices in inclusive education.
Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the evolving needs of students and contribute collaboratively to a supportive team environment.
