ASSISTANT MANAGER

JOB TITLE:                                                          ASSISTANT MANAGER           SALARY:                                               £33,000 + Bonus Location:                                                      Southend, EssexMAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES      
Always maintain a professional and welcoming approach when dealing with customersAssist in implementation of merchandise and layout to maximise sales, customer satisfaction and bar appearance and imageAssist in implementation of bar advertising, promotional strategy and activitiesAssist in managing costs and overheads, and all factors affecting the profitable performance of the barLiaise with internal departments (e.g., head office) and external agencies and authorities (e.g.

suppliers, advertising, recruitment, training, fire services, police, local council and health and safety inspectors)Assist in managing and maintaining effectiveness of IT systemsResponding to customer complaints and comments as appropriateTouring the bar regularly, ensuring walkways are kept clear for customer access, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying and resolving any issues in a timely mannerComplete all necessary administration as requiredAssist in recruitment and selection of employees as requiredAssist in training and development of new and existing employeesLead by exampleEnsure effective deployment of staff on shift, delegating tasks as appropriateEnsure all employees are carrying out their dutiesEnsure all employees understand the importance of excellent customer service, and provide advice to employees as appropriate on the provision of excellent customer service
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Hands-on bar and waiting experience in a busy hospitality service environment.A proven track record of delivering high standards of service and presentation.Excellent interpersonal skillsHighly presentable with a pro-active approach to maintaining excellent customer servicePrevious experience of managing and training staff in a team leader or supervisor capacity.Experience of managing consumable / perishable stock and delivering catering services within appropriate food hygiene legislation/best practice.Previous cash handling and cash reconciliation experience IT skills including a basic competency in Word and ExcelAbility to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays as required
