Apprentice Planner

The responsibilities of the role will include:

Researching local plans including settlement analysis to identify new land opportunities and constraints Site visits, SWOT analysis Meeting Council officers and professionals involved in new developments Preparation of representations on emerging plans and new sites Planning application preparation and submission, tendering, instructing consultants Contributing to overall design process on new layouts, open space, ecological habitat creation Researching planning history of sites; local policies and national planning legislation Attendance at network events

Training:

You will attend York College on a day-release basis and will receive training in the workplace during the remainder of your working hours each week.

Training Outcome:

This pathway would typically progress towards more senior roles in Planning and Land Buying, involving the delivery of strategic large-scale new developments for the company. Roles can include Senior Planner; Strategic Land Planner. The professional accreditation for this role is via the Royal Town Planning Institute, which can be through the Chartered Town Planner Apprenticeship or experience in industry.
