Apprentice Service Engineer - Plant & Hydraulics

As a Plant & Hydraulic Apprentice at Truck Cranes LTD, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to maintain, service, and repair heavy lifting equipment and hydraulic systems. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Assisting with routine maintenance of cranes and plant equipment Learning to diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical faults Supporting the inspection and testing of machinery to ensure safety and performance Helping with part replacements, fluid checks, and system calibrations Keeping accurate service records and learning to use technical documentation Working both in the workshop and on-site under supervision Following strict health and safety protocols at all times

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll gain practical experience and technical knowledge while working toward a recognised qualification in plant maintenance or engineering.

Training:

The training will take place at Truck Cranes LTD, Rugeley WS15 1UZ and at customer sites. The training will take place daily.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll be well-equipped to take on a full-time role as a Plant & Hydraulic Engineer or Service Technician within Truck Cranes LTD.

With experience and continued development, your career path could progress to:

Senior Engineer/Technician – handling complex repairs and leading site work Field Service Engineer – independently managing on-site jobs for customers Workshop Supervisor – overseeing a team of engineers and managing workloads Technical Specialist – focusing on diagnostics, hydraulics, or electrical systems Engineering Manager – leading projects, supporting apprentices, and driving improvements
