Podiatry apprentice

Learn how to assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment plans for a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems and wound management Gradually manage your own clinical caseload, providing treatment for patients referred by a podiatrist To implement individualised treatment programs for patients To provide appropriate education to patients and carers to assist with the delivery of their treatment program and to empower the patient to participate fully To gain experience, during the apprenticeship, in a wide variety of clinical areas including diabetes, rheumatology, biomechanics/MSK, tissue viability, nail surgery and wound management To accurately record treatments in patient records and ensure that referrals and patient communications are prepared and sent appropriately Integrate your academic learning with clinical learning Manage your time and focus across your university studies and your clinical learning in clinic, alongside your admin responsibilities

Training:

Podiatrist Level 6. 

37.5 hours per week split across academic study, clinical teaching and admin/clinical work. Monday to Friday with one monthly Saturday.

Apprentices will be taught face to face 2 days a week integrated with our current undergraduate Podiatry Programme at the University over 2 semesters. The remaining days remain within the workplace.

University tutors will work with employers to prepare for learning in the workplace that complies with HCPC standards. Apprentices will also have access to the onsite Podiatry Clinic for placement in specialised clinical practice if their employment base is unable to offer.
