Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician Apprentice

Role Overview: 

This apprenticeship is ideal for anyone starting a career in manufacturing and engineering. As an apprentice, you will support engineering and production teams, operate machinery (with full training provided), assist with quality control, maintenance, and improvement projects, and complete a Level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician qualification (ST1395). 

Key Responsibilities:  

You will pick, assemble, and prepare stock and components for production, operate production and warehouse machinery, assist with the setup, maintenance, and calibration of equipment, and support quality checks and continuous improvement initiatives. You will maintain accurate records of production and technical activities, follow health, safety, and environmental procedures, and work effectively as part of a small, hands-on team. 

What We Are Looking For:  

We are looking for someone with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, good communication, and teamwork are essential. GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science are desirable, along with a willingness to learn and follow instructions safely. 

What You Will Learn:  

During the apprenticeship, you will develop knowledge of mechanical and engineering principles in manufacturing, learn to operate and maintain production machinery, read engineering drawings and technical documentation, and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards. You will also gain skills in continuous improvement, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and time management.

Employer: Bywell Springs & Pressings College: MET Centre, Sandwell College, 404 High Street, West Bromwich, B70 9LB Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician Training Schedule: 4-days per week: On-the-job training at Bywell Springs & Pressings- One day per week at MET Centre

32 hours/week (Mon–Thu 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–12:00)
