Trading Standards Apprentice

Assist with inspections, projects, investigations, meetings, and complaints Handle evidence, records, and data with confidentiality and integrity Conduct research and produce reports to aid investigations Taking samples/test purchases of foods, consumer goods, such as toys, cosmetics, vapes, tobacco and electrical items, or jewellery and alcohol, to have them checked against legal standards Working with partners to protect consumers and businesses from fraud and scams and interrupting doorstep rogue traders Investigating rogue traders, preparing criminal cases, and giving evidence in court Provide business support services and general administrative duties Participate in meetings, training, and seminars to improve communication An enhanced DBS check is required for council officers who visit residents’ homes or work regularly with children

Training:
Complete a Trading Standards Professional Level 6 apprenticeship fully funded by the Council. This will involve completing tasks and studies in the workplace, or as per course requirements Join a personal and professional development programme that will involve a series of varied development activities and events throughout your time with the Council
