Unit Manager - Ware, Hertfordshire

Location: Westgate House Care Centre, Tower Road, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 7LP

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 p/a (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm - flexibility required

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Unit Manager to join our team at Westgate House Care Centre in Ware, Hertfordshire.

The Unit Manager will support the Home Manager and Deputy Manager with the day-to-day running of the Nursing Home and specifically, with overall responsibility of a 39-bedded floor/unit, inclusive of a 13-bed Therapy Rehab Unit. You will manage your unit to ensure that the highest achievable standards of care are delivered to residents and that all nursing and care practices are evidence-based and reflect current trends. You will be a hands-on role model and leader for the care team and create an open, positive, and inclusive atmosphere. You will also be expected to demonstrate positive professional practice and development and promote the rights of our residents to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

You will be expected to work within the defined company policies and procedures and to adhere to CQC guidelines and other relevant legislative requirements at all times.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Effectively delegate to and lead a team of care professionals to deliver high standards of care and add value to the lives of our residentsTake responsibility and ownership for nursing and care practices on the unit, ensuring that person-centred care for the residents is the focusBe the lead for your unit to ensure that the oversight for clinical governance is monitored and that this is reported to the Home Manager as requiredSupport with audits across the home, analyse the quality of care outcomes and make recommendations to further improve the care standardsMaintain clinical involvement and provide hands-on care to our residents including the administration of medication and wound careLiaise with external healthcare professionals as needed, such as Social Services and CCG representativesAssist the Home Manager in filling resident vacancies on your unit by liaising with stakeholders and by assessing and selecting suitable residents according to their care needs

ABOUT YOU:

The right to live and work in the UKNVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care Management (or equivalent)Previous experience in a similar position i.e. managing a team of nurses and carersUnderstanding of CQC requirements, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, HSE (Health & Safety Executive) requirements and other relevant legislationExcellent communication, teamwork and management skillsPositive, flexible and innovative attitude
