Live Event Technician Apprenticeship

Event Concept (EC) have an opportunity for our next round of Live Event Technician apprentices to join our team.

At EC, we blend creative event agency thinking and production company doing to deliver extraordinary events and everlasting experiences.

Who are you?

First and foremost, you are passionate about live events. You’re a team player with a flexible, enthusiastic approach You’re a strong communicator, both in person and in written content You don’t get phased under pressure, you’re the consummate professional. Even when something isn’t going quite according to plan, you remain calm and get the situation sorted You are a fast learner looking to build your knowledge You are able to think on the spot, and find solutions to challenges as they come up You understand the importance of self-evaluation and self -awareness and open and willing to learn from those around you

Day to day responsibilities:

Day to day, you will be delivering events in one of our many accredited venues around London You will be working in places such as the iconic Natural History Museum, Sky Garden with its amazing views and the beautiful grounds of Kensington Palace You will be installing events into these spaces in times as small as an hour You will work closely with our Event Technician team learning different disciplines within technical production

Lighting:

Setting up a full lighting rig with both generic and intelligent fixtures Operating a lighting console to a professional level Maintaining and repairing lighting equipment to ensure they are working effectively onsite Preparing equipment to ensure that the event is set up in the quickest time possible

Video:

Setting up various different display’s such as screens, projectors and LED wall Operating different control surfaces such as switchers and media servers Managing digital signals and how to design and implement them effectively Capturing content using equipment such as PTZ and manned cameras to ensure every angle is covered

Audio:

Setting up complex analog and digital audio systems to ensure top-quality sound for any event Mixing live audio, balancing microphones and instruments, while applying EQ to achieve the perfect sound Reading and interpreting technical documents like patch lists and band riders, making sure you’re prepared for any audio need Selecting and positioning the right microphones for each situation, guaranteeing crystal clear sound across the venue

Alongside all of this you will also learn about the bigger picture of an event and what goes into making one happen:

The logistics of an event such as warehousing, trucking and crewing with our production and operation managers How to manage client relationships onsite with our Client Services department The planning and designing of an event with our inhouse team of creative and project managers

Training:
Creative Industries Production Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship 6 hours of off the job training per week Online training delivered by Access Industry Workplace observations by Access Industry If 4/C or above or Level 2 in funcational skills has not been achieved then you will work to achieve a Level 2 in Functional Skills

Training Outcome:
You can expect to have a career in the live events industry employed or freelance

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, but be expected to work shifts, evening and weekends depending on events
