Commis Chef Apprenticeship
Underpinned by a series of kitchen masterclasses, and culinary and development workshops, chefs will learn and understand how to carry out basic functions in every section of the kitchen. This allows future talent to experience, consider and value each section with a view to choosing an area where they feel most inspired.
The learning journey will vary considerably from one individual to the next, however, it is the range of experiences in the basics gained in this role that provide the opportunities to progress to any future senior chef role.
Commis chef apprentices develop skills such as:
Prioritising tasks Measuring ingredients and portion sizes Working with others Maintaining a clean kitchen environment Following safe systems of workTraining:
Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard A bespoke programme of technical and vocational training Functional skills in maths and English*if applicable The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated work based trainer who will provide support and guidance throughout the course This Apprenticeship requires attendance for classroom based sessions once per week at the East Riding College Bridlington campus
Training Outcome:
Possible permanent contract upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship and further enhanced industry based training An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence Transferable skills that are invaluable in the wider world of work
