The Nobel School - Teaching Assistant SEND Pathway Apprenticeship

The successful candidate will assist the class teacher with resource preparation, and support learning, including the emotional development of individuals and groups of pupils. To assess identified learners and track their progress according to the graduated approach in the Code of Practice and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students’ learning. To plan and deliver programmes of learning for small groups and individuals under the supervision of the SENDCo. To mark students’ work according to the Nobel marking policy. To carry out learning walks and observations and feedback on identified students. To supervise students attending early morning Literacy intervention and after-school PLT (homework) sessions. To support lunchtime activities including games club. To support learners in a range of contexts including lessons, withdrawal groups and bespoke provision such as literacy, reading, phonics, spelling, etc. To support the SEND team in the range of provisions including supervision of The Bridge, exam access arrangements, study lesson cover, trips and visits when directed by SENDCo. To support SEND students which exams access arrangements with a range of specialist provisions such as prompting, reading, scribing and invigilation and undertake training as required to ensure adherence to JCQ regulations. To take part in and deliver specialist training for whole school initiatives and specific vulnerable groups. Some whole class supervision (for example during wet play) including specific interventions for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Supervise pupils during play and lunchtimes and complete records of learning outcomes following specific intervention delivery. Attending regular staff meetings and training as appropriate. Using devices such as printers, and laminators.

Desired skills, qualities and qualifications:

Must be able to use their initiative but also work under clear direction from class teachers and Senior Leaders. Must be able to assimilate new information effectively. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with both adults and pupils. Must be an effective timekeeper, must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and be able to work under pressure. Must be flexible and in the event of changes to the school day such as staff absence, be willing to be redeployed as necessary. Must have a good understanding of anti-racist practise and other anti-discriminatory expectations. Must be able to carry out tasks and duties promptly. Must have a calm, patient manner and positive attitude.

Potential full time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday 9am till 3:30pm with a 30 minute lunch-break.
