Apprentice Installation & Maintenance Electrician

We are looking for an Electrical apprentice interested in learning to:

Understand electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings and diagrams to determine job specifications and requirements. Plan and measure the layout of wiring systems. Test, find and repair electrical problems. Install and fix electrical and electronic control systems, cables, outlets and equipment. Connect electrical equipment to power supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

To learn to carry out a range of electrical installations in new and occupied properties including: Diagnosis of electrical faults. Testing and maintenance of electrical wiring. Equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures such as renewing consumer control unit, fuse/RCD/MCB; cookers, fans , fire alarm, sockets, switches, external lighting, shower units and electrical heating systems. Using hand and power tools to current legislative standards, performance standards and in accordance with company procedures under the guidance of qualified trade employees, suited to the current level of training and development. To learn to complete all necessary paperwork and NICEIC records to current legislative standards. To attend college and complete coursework on time and to a high standard. To carry out necessary administrative duties including the production of timesheets and recording of safety information. To liaise and work with all other trades and apprentices as required. To understand and comply with company policies and procedures. To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures. To attend and fully participate in regular training and reviews with the mentor and line manager. To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities, as required.

Training:

For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:

Level 3 Installation & Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship Standard. Electrotechnical Apprenticeship Qualification Functional Skills in English and maths if required AM2

For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a practical competency assessment (17 hours over 2.5 days), a scenario- based interview and a multiple- choice knowledge test.

Apprentices are expected to attend college one day per week (term-time only) at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.



Training Outcome:
A position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a position following their apprenticeship.

Within the construction industry it is common for employees to start on site as apprentices and work their way through the company structure to higher levels of management and even directorship. Apprentices would be encouraged to develop and to take on responsibilities as they progress.



Employer Description:
We are a commercial mechanical and electrical building services company completing commercial and large domestic plumbing heating and electrical installation work in East Anglia working largely in healthcare, education and social housing projects.

Working Hours :
The basic working week is 37.5 hours per week. The working week is Monday to Friday. The work involves early starts in order to be on site at 7:00am or 7:30am in the morning. Shifts will be worked between 7:00am to 4:30pm. 30 minute break every day.
