Children’s Residential Senior Support Worker Apprentice

 To provide supervision to the support workers. Formulate rotas to ensure shifts are covered. Oversee the provision of daily, missing and incident reports. To ensure that care is provided within a professional, positive, and homely environment which integrates race, spirituality, gender, disability and sexual orientation and meets individual needs. To establish positive relationships with our children and young people, assessing needs and working jointly with other professionals to produce, implement, deliver, and revise individual care plans. To work with young people individually and in groups with the aim of enhancing relationships, self-confidence, social skills, managing behaviour and develop life skills. To organise and participate in activities for young people. To work to provide a positive, welcoming, and stimulating environment for the young people including carrying out cleaning, gardening and other domestic duties. To adhere to all reporting and recording procedures and ensure the production of timely written reports and correspondence to a professional level. To communicate effectively with other agencies, professionals, and families. To be responsible for dealing with petty cash and other purchasing duties in accordance with established procedures and policies, ensuring that all petty cash dealt with is accurately recorded and reported. To act within corporate parenting responsibilities to children and young people, providing guidance and support to children and young people whilst always maintaining professional boundaries. To work as a young person’s key worker, ensuring key working sessions are carried out in a timely and appropriate manner. To oversee and ensure all duties associated with running a children’s home during a shift are completed to a high standard. Such duties include logbook entries, completing running records, updating weekly planners, fire safety and health and safety checks. Ensuring that all other duties commensurate with running a children’s home are completed to a high standard. Such duties include household chores, light gardening duties, weekly food shopping and preparing culturally appropriate meals. To ensure necessary liaison and communication takes place within the home and outside with families, other members of the company, schools, other agencies, and the local community. To attend, with guidance, court proceedings, child protection conferences, panels etc. and contribute reports and information as requested. To act immediately upon any suspicion, evidence, allegation, or concern in relation to safeguarding in accordance with safeguarding children and young people policies and procedures. To work on designated projects as required and to keep abreast of developments within the profession. To provide cover across each of our homes.

Training:
Children, young people and families manager L5 Apprenticeship Standard An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Haven Care Support Services is an organisation that provides care leavers with the support they require that will enable them to progress towards a fully independent lifestyle. They will be equipped with the fundamental skills essential for self-reliance and be provided with education and employment skills that will facilitate positive development.

Working Hours :
Normally 12-hour shift pattern 08:00 – 20:00 and 20:00 - 08:00 to include days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays. 36 hours per week. Will include shift work, which may include waking nights. Our current pattern is 12-hour shifts. Days TBC.
