1. To assist in maintaining the school’s IT network and systems.

To assist in providing support for the school’s server and network infrastructure. To provide hardware and software support for all school owned hardware. To assist in the monitoring of the school’s networks, including antivirus and eSafety platforms. To maintain all peripherals within the school. To assist in the installation and maintenance of all software on computers. Maintain integrity of software using virus removal tools or reinstallation where necessary. Setup and maintain new IT equipment. To perform daily room checks of all IT enhanced areas, keeping a log of any faulty or damaged equipment. Maintain and fault find all computers around the school and organise where necessary if repairs are required. Make minor repairs if and where necessary. To assist in producing and updating department documentation including the asset database. To maintain professional knowledge related to the maintenance, support and upgrading of the school’s servers and networked systems. Ensure the continued operation of the School networks, setting up new accounts, maintaining password integrity, and assist pupils and staff to access network resources.

2. To provide 1st and 2nd line support for all users, curriculum and administrative.

To assist in administering user accounts and email. To provide support to users of the school’s Information Management System (SIMS) and other administrative software. To provide support to pupils and staff in accessing the ICT in school and remotely, and providing advice for home computer use. Provide technical support for staff training.

3. To support the use of the school’s audio and visual systems.

To assist in the setup and maintenance of the school’s audio and visual equipment for assemblies and functions. To support the school’s interactive whiteboards, interactive televisions, projectors and audio systems within classrooms.

4. To support teachers and pupils in the classroom.

Provide support for learning activities. Provide in-class technical support for staff using IT in the classroom. Provide technical support and guidance to staff to understand programs, problem solve and generally support them in using hardware/software correctly.

5. To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.

Undertake any reasonable duties from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person Be aware of and support difference to ensure all students have equal access to opportunities in which to learn and develop To participate in the school’s performance management scheme, ensuring that performance standards and targets are set and met within the agreed time scale and taking personal responsibility for professional development in discussion with the line manage. 

Training:

Full-time apprentices will typically spend 18 months on-programme working towards the apprenticeship Standard, with a minimum of 20% off-the-job training.  The triaining will include block release training with the provider.
 
End-point assessment (EPA) should only start once the employer is satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at or above the level set out in the Standard; that the pre-requisite gateway requirements for end-point assessment have been met; and that they can be evidenced to an end-point assessment organisation.  EPA tests all the knowledge, skills and behaviours on the Standard.


EPA is based on 2 distinct assessment methods, which can be taken in any order.

1.    Knowledge Test – comprised of four Knowledge Units each based on multiple-choice questions – assessing underpinning knowledge and understanding.

2.    Project and Interview – comprised of two parts: a project giving the apprentice the opportunity to undertake a business-related project away from the day to day workplace, followed by a structured interview with an independent assessor - assessing the knowledge, skills and behaviours demonstrated in the project as well as drawing on those demonstrated in their portfolio.

English and Maths:

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve these prior to the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language. 

Professional recognition:

This apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, Register of IT Technicians confirming level 3 professional competence. Those completing the apprenticeship can apply for registration.



Training Outcome:

Potential progression into a full-time position within the school and wage increase as well as further training within a supportive environment.
