Apprentice Teaching Assistant at Byron Primary School

Key Role:

Provide teaching support in small groups and, where necessary, for individual pupils in order to aid the teaching of all curriculum subjects but especially the basic skills of reading, writing and maths Provide activities to promote positive behaviour patterns, raise self-esteem and improve independent learning Contribute to the achievement of and help to maintain the school mission, aims and values Contribute ideas, opinions, and evaluations to support the preparation of the school improvement plan Specific Duties and Responsibilities in Supporting for the School To display pupils’ work to reflect their achievement To supervise pupils on outings and visits as required To supervise pupils at lunchtimes and breaktimes To attend relevant school meetings as required and to participate in school training and other learning activities, in addition to training provided as part of the apprenticeship package To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health & safety and security and to refer all concerns to the Headteacher, receiving training where necessary from the school To treat all information relating to a pupil as strictly confidential, and to be aware of and comply with school policy and practice, receiving training where necessary from the school To be a proactive member of the school and class team To participate positively and professionally in effective relationships with team members To attend relevant courses and learning activities in order to update knowledge as required

General Duties:

The Teaching Assistant Apprentice may be called upon to perform other duties that the Head Teacher considers reasonable, that are commensurate with the grading and designation of the post

Preparation for End Point Assessment Work based and tutor supported online training

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday term time, plus 5 staff training days 32.5 hours 08:30am – 15:30pm with 30 minute lunch break
