Apprentice Early Years Educator

Responsibilities & Duties

To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years. To ensure that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others. To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development. To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the 3rd in charge/ Floor Manager/ Nursery Manager. To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship.

 Main activities:

To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times. To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress. To help ensure the preschool nursery always meets Ofsted requirements. To understand and work to preschool nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies. To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes. To be a key person. To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments. To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement. To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives     

Other duties:

On arrival, organise a Risk assessment on the conditions of the play areas and communal areas to be used by children and staff. Assist with risk assessments - make sure any hazards are noticed, record any items requiring attention, and take steps to remedy the hazards. Make sure the equipment/materials used are age appropriate. Maintain a health & safety viewpoint throughout each day and reduce risks of injury or damage as they arise. To assist in the cleaning of the premises throughout and at the end of the day. To assist with ensuring all equipment is returned to the correct storage area. To liase with parents on the care of their children. To feedback positively to parents about their child(ren)’s day. To always be punctual and ready to carry out duties on time.

Training:
Apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator standard qualification. You will be supported via an agreed training plan. Training will be discussed at enrolment and will include input from the employer, training provider and apprentice. The apprentice will receive monthly workplace or virtual visits with a dedicated assessor. Paediatric first aid qualification

Training Outcome:
After successful completion of your apprenticeship a position for full time practitioner may be available.

Employer Description:
We are a family-run nursery in Trafford situated within Carrington Lane Methodist Church. We offer care for children, from newborn babies to children aged 5 years, and provide a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to join school. We follow the Curiosity Approach at Invitation 2 Play, and we are the first Curiosity Approach Accredited nursery in Trafford! We also have a qualified teacher on site 51 weeks a year and each room and age group has a focused 'Teacher Time' Activity time slot every week. Our philosophy is based on creating awe and wonder in the Early Years, which we implement through exploration and learning. By blending indoor and outdoor classrooms and environments in a home-away-from-home environment, we are able to create a space where children feel empowered, curious and ready to learn.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday - working hours between 7.30am and 6.00pm, on a rota basis. Shifts to be confirmed.
