For an immediate start: Our carpentry apprentices have just completed their Level 3 - NWK College and/or Level 2 - Bromley College - and have now gone on to new roles. We are therefore looking to replace them.
You will learn a diverse range of skills from a qualified Master Carpenter and Builder with 38 years experience. You will learn to complete: plumbing, brickwork, fit flat roof windows and sliding doors. Carpentry: fit kitchens, bathrooms, extensions, staircases, build garden rooms, roofs, loft conversions and full refurbishments, so you therefore must be prepared to do everything required of you.
You must be polite, honest, hard working, competent, punctual and reliable.
Non smokers and non vaping - not negoitable.
You must be able to speak, understand, read and write English.
You must be able to get to site or a station where you can be collected.
Tools are not required although most carpentry apprentices should have their own basic tool kit. So if you do not have one you must look to get one.
You will need steel toe cap boots, work trousers and a fully waterproof jacket.Training:
At college, you will be enrolled to complete a building or carpentry course, e.g. Carpentry Level 2.
You must have GCSEs in math and English at grade 3 or above. or Functional Skills if required.
You must be able to follow instructions.
All training is hands-on, on-site training.
You must have taken the health & safety course.

An average week will involve:
Travelling to customer sites with qualified engineers.
Assisting with inspections, servicing and maintenance of cranes and lifting equipment.
Supporting diagnosis and repair of electrical systems, motors, drives and gearboxes.
Learning to identify safety and compliance issues and record accurate service reports.
Helping with breakdown response, planned maintenance and customer liaison.
Developing safe working practices, including working at height and in challenging environments.
Training:The apprentice will work towards the Level 3 apprenticeship in Mechatronics Maintenance Technician via Sunderland College. This nationally recognised qualification combines both electrical and mechanical engineering skills, tailored to working with cranes and lifting equipment. Training will be delivered through a mix of: On-the-job training alongside experienced Crane Service Engineers, gaining practical skills at customer sites and visits to our Teesside branch.
The combination of structured learning and hands-on experience will equip apprentices with the technical knowledge, safety awareness and industry-recognised qualification needed to progress in to a full-time engineering role.Training Outcome:On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is potential to progress into a full-time Crane Service Engineer role. As an Accounts/Finance Assistant apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team with day-to-day financial operations. Your tasks may include:
Processing and recording financial transactions, such as invoices, purchase orders, and receipts
Assisting with bank reconciliations and ensuring records are accurate and up to date
Supporting the preparation of monthly financial reports and spreadsheets
Managing and maintaining organised financial filing systems, both digital and paper-based
Communicating with suppliers and customers to resolve invoice or payment queries
Assisting with VAT returns and other regulatory compliance tasks under supervision
Inputting data into accounting software and updating internal financial systems
Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required
This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing essential skills in a busy finance environment.Training:The apprentice will receive a combination of on-the-job training and structured learning to support their development. Off-the-job training will take place either remotely or at On Course South West.

Regular reviews will take place between the employer, apprentice, and OCSW to ensure progress and support is aligned
This blended approach ensures the apprentice gains both practical experience and theoretical knowledge to successfully complete the Level 2 AAT qualification.Training Outcome:Upon successful completion of the Accounts/Finance Assistant apprenticeship, the apprentice may progress to the Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting, further developing their skills and knowledge.
