Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be trained and supported to competently carry out the following:
Program, set, and operate CNC machine tools using company-supplied production, engineering, and process documentation
Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings, specifications, and job instructions
Produce precision components to required tolerances using CNC milling and/or turning machines
Carry out first-off inspections and ongoing self-inspection to ensure components meet quality and technical standards
Accurately complete all relevant internal production, quality, and inspection documentation
Assist with production planning activities to support efficient machine utilisation and workflow
Monitor machining processes and make basic adjustments where required under supervision
Perform routine machine maintenance, basic fault reporting, and housekeeping to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
Work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, company procedures, and safe systems of work always
Develop an understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles, and workplace efficiency
Training:Training and Development:
As part of the apprenticeship standard, you will receive structured training covering:
CNC programming fundamentals
Machining techniques, tooling, and materials
Engineering mathematics and metrology
Quality control and inspection techniques.
Health, safety, and environmental practices
Professional behaviours such as teamwork, communication, and problem solving
You will be supported by experienced engineers and mentors, you will work towards successful completion of your apprenticeship
Training Outcome:Full time position on successful completion of Apprenticeship.Employer Description:TGM was formed in 1998 and specialises in the 3,4 and 5 axis machining of hard and soft metals up to 4.2 metres long. Today, ASG TGM customers come from both military and civil markets. ASG TGM have LTAs in place on civil and military platforms.
In 2020 the 18-machine strong TGM invested in a state of the art 4.2 metre, 5 axis machining centre and a new assembly clean room. Use a range of joinery hand toolds, portable machines such as drills, sanders and routers
Assembling stairs of medium complexity
Work to manufactuing schedules and plans
Operate various woodwork machinery
Understanding job sheet and componenet part information
Problem solving
Identify material defects during the manufactuing process
Prepare component parts for assembly inluding positioning and fixing
Apply adhesive and fixings in line with assembly instructions
Apply paint and sealers as the job schedule demands
Pre-fit additional components
Support the team leader with departmental goals and objectives.
Install glazing in accordance with product specification
Working to tight deadlines
Working in squads
