Are you a skilled Manual Machinist with experience on a variety of manual machines, including Mills, Lathes, Horizontal Borers, Vertical Borers and Grinders? An exciting new position has opened up for an experience Manual Machinist to join an established engineering company on the outskirts of Coalville, Leicestershire. They provide a wide range of services to their customers including repairs, refurbishments, design work and replacement parts, meaning that this role offers a lot of variety.
Duties Include:
- Manual Machining
- Using various Manual machines, including Manual Mills, Manual Lathes, Horizontal Borers, Vertical Borers and Surface Grinders
- Basic Welding (if experienced)
- Quality checking parts
- Working to engineering drawings
- Following health & safety rules
Minimum Skills / Experience Required:
- Manual Milling
- Manual Turning
- Experience with Borers and Grinders is desirable but not essential
- Welding experience is desirable but not essential
- Able to work from detailed engineering drawings
- Hard working and motivated
- Able to commute to the Coalville area

You will be expected to become proficient in:
Setting and Operating CNC Machine Tools (in line with your capability/ progression)
Training may also be provided on Manual Turning, dependant on business needs.
Working within the Machine Shop you will be required to:
Read and understand engineering drawings
Use various hand and power tools
Become familiar with the use of a variety of measuring equipment, micrometers etc
De-burr/polish finished parts
Maintain the machine shop and machines as required
You will also work alongside / observe other engineering areas of the company including; inspection and design (CAD) to broaden and underpin your general engineering knowledge.

The Apprentice Engineer will be responsible for developing skills in the maintenance, and optimisation of systems that combine mechanical and electrical engineering. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the apprentice will learn to support the:

The Apprentice Engineer will be expected to work towards and complete the apprenticeship program with a focus on self-development, progression, and ownership. The apprentice will undertake a range of administrative tasks to support other members of the team. Tasks will include speaking to customers, taking notes and logging these on to the Housing IT system and raising purchase orders and processing invoices.

Working within the Fabrication Shop you will be required to
Read and understand and follow engineering drawings
Work to engineering tolerances
Use the most suitable welding method for the job in hand
Use various hand and power tools (grinders, cutting torches, hand files, hammer)
Inspect and test cuts and joins, through the use of a variety of measuring equipment, micrometers etc.
You will be expected to become proficient in the following.
Welding of raw steel components using MMA (manual electric arc) & MIG (metal inert gas)
Cutting of raw steel using various techniques such as oxy-acetylene, plasma and traditional saws
In addition to learning the skills of a Welder Fabricator, you may also be crossed trained in the use of a Press Brake Machine and Spray Painting.Training:You will attend Leicester College, Abbey Park Campus for training, one day per week.
