Are you a commercial lawyer with an interest in sustainability and seeking a role where you genuinely make a difference? My client is committed to clean, sustainable energy solutions based around water electrolysis, with the principal motivation being to engineer zero-carbon hydrogen energy systems that provide energy security and independence from fossil fuels.
This is high-tech, challenging stuff, but hugely rewarding and Sacco Mann is immensely proud to have worked in partnership, recruiting several lawyers for them from the very start. They now seek another commercially minded, client facing and pragmatic generalist to play a leading role within their integral legal team, assisting on their journey into the stratosphere!
You’re likely to have had training or are currently with one of the recognised national law firms and will preferably have a few experience in contracts drafting, reviewing and negotiation. However, this is a varied and diverse caseload and therefore candidates with a stellar pedigree and PQE in other areas of law such as corporate, commercial litigation or insolvency will be considered.
Salary will be commensurate with experience but we’d imagine it is likely to suit someone with 4 years+ PQE who is able to get to get to Sheffield 2-3 days a week with the remainder working from home.
They are a fantastic organisation with a superb, collegiate In-house team who work hard and are committed to this pioneering work. Your CV will no doubt be enhanced by this role, but you’ll also have a huge degree of job satisfaction and fulfilment for the part you’re playing in the attempted preservation of the planet!

The Vacancy
About the Role
Paradigm have set an objective to ensure all its homes achieve a minimum energy efficiency rating of EPC band C by 2030 and deliver homes to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. To achieve these objectives Paradigm will be undertaking energy efficiency retrofit works to many of its homes over the next 7 years. The type of projects will range from single measures to whole house retrofit.
You will have project management responsibility to ensure that retrofit projects are delivered in full compliance to PAS 2035:2019, and to budget and time. You will oversee the delivery of these projects the majority of which will be carried out by external contractors and where necessary specialist consultants will also be employed.
You will be required to provide a professional project management service, from inception through to post contract evaluation to ensure that the retrofit works are successfully delivered to agreed key performance outcomes.
You will work closely with the Asset Decarbonisation Manager to identify suitable properties for retrofit works and develop programmes of works for contractors. You will also work with the Customer Engagement Manager to ensure that our customers are fully engaged and supported while the energy efficiency retrofit works are carried out to their homes.
Our Team
Our Asset Management Strategy Team are expert and committed property management specialists. They specialise in reviewing and delivering Paradigm's asset management strategies. One of the key priorities is improving the energy efficiency of our housing stock and ensuring we set in place plans for the delivery of net zero carbon by 2050 in line with the Government's national strategy to address the climate change emergency. Within the Asset Management Strategy Team, we have an Asset Decarbonisation Manager who will manage a small team working with consultants and contractors to deliver the decarbonisation strategy to meet corporate and national objectives. You will be part of this team focussing on ensuring the successful delivery of the retrofit projects to PAS 2035.
Supporting the Customer Liaison Manager, you will attend some meetings with customers to discuss proposed retrofit projects as well as engaging with them during the works.
About You
You will have experience of managing complex investment projects to social housing properties and have the skills, knowledge and experience to bring dynamic and collaborative project management to the delivery of energy efficiency retrofit improvements to a range of archetypes in Paradigm's housing portfolio.
Having previous experience of delivering energy efficiency retrofit projects would be an advantage, however, for those with no experience there will be an opportunity as part of personal development to undertake training on PAS 2035 which could lead to a recognise qualification energy efficiency retrofit.
You will have excellent communication skills and you will need to be extremely organised and self-motivated, as you will be working independently to manage your own workload. You will have the ability to plan your work in a logical way, able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
You will enjoy working collaboratively to achieve outcomes within programme timeframes, to the high standards expected and within budget.
