What You Will Be Doing
Work closely with the Head of Claims, Finance Manager and the Insurance Manager (Gibraltar based) to provide timely support and advice to first line operational teams and key stakeholders on regulatory requirements and developments (GFSC & FCA)
Participate in regular GA team meetings and provide input on compliance and conduct risk activities
Call meetings as required to maintain a rolling list of outstanding regulatory and compliance matters including owners and actions
Collate data from various GA’s in order to populate and submit regulatory returns as required
Review and monitor GA conduct risks through appropriate MI and raise any issues and concerns to senior management
Perform proactive monitoring and control of policies, procedures, processes, practices and documentation to ensure Company continues to meet all relevant regulatory requirements
Produce relevant reports for Boards, Committees and senior management to allow for better decision making within the company and reporting for external regulatory bodies to demonstrate the company's compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements
Develop regulatory requirements through a comprehensive governance and reporting structure
Draft initial responses to ad hoc regulatory queries as they arise
Liaise with internal and external auditors in any review of second line policies and procedures
What You Will Need to Succeed In This Role
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial services, preferably insurance
A minimum 5 years’ experience in a compliance role, preferably with insurance products targeting consumer and/or commercial markets in the UK
Experience in the Gibraltar and United Kingdom regulatory environments with an understanding of cross-border financial services is an advantage
Experience of dealing directly with regulators on behalf of a firm
A relevant legal, insurance or compliance qualification such as Cert CII, DIP CII, ACII, Qualified Solicitor or ILEX
Strong organizational skills and ability to quickly prioritise key matters
Proven ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization, as well as with clients and other external stakeholders

Position Summary:
Carboline is seeking an EH&S Specialist located at our manufacturing facility in Lake Charles, LA. This person would be responsible for implementing and managing the environmental, health, safety, security, and emergency response programs for the local production and distribution facility. We are looking for a dynamic trainer and behavior-based safety implementer for this facility. This position will spend a lot of time on the production floor interacting with employees and supervisors identifying improvements in best practices and improving safety within processes. PSM experience, hazardous waste management and someone that has worked within a Chemical processing facility is preferred!
Requirements:
• Minimum of a BS degree in a safety, regulatory, or chemical related discipline or equivalent experience. (Industrial Safety preferred.) • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in safety, regulatory, and/or chemical fields. • Strong working knowledge of the OSHA process safety management regulations (PSM). • Proven experience as safety manager. • Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies. • Experience in data analysis and risk assessment. • Excellent organizational and motivational skills. • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires some physical activity including but not limited to standing/kneeling/walking/sitting on concrete for approximately 50% of work day. This position could also require computer usage for an extended period of time - up to 8 hours in a day. Lifting up to 50 pounds; exposure to dust and chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds. Essential Functions:
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EH&S regulations including written programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training. • Establish local EH&S goals and objectives along with the timely and accurate reporting mechanisms. • Coordinate the investigation of incidents (including near misses and losses) and accidents to determine root causes and assists in the development of corrective and preventive action plans. • Serve as the site liaison to local emergency response providers. • Develop and conduct environmental, safety and health training programs to ensure employee's knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. • Serve as Facility Security Officer to implement and maintain facility security requirements as required by the Department of Homeland Security. • Conduct EH&S reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications and new equipment/machinery installations per the OSHA PSM standard. • Create and update compliance-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job hazard analysis (JHAs). • Administer and monitor industrial hygiene sampling and communicate exposure information and/or personal protective equipment requirements to employees. • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics. • Maintain the health & safety statistics database • Provide coaching and support to employees, supervision, and management to proactively address safety, health, and environmental risks and concerns, • Initiate or assist in efforts to continuously improve the overall working environment in the facility. • Provide technical assistance, training and work direction to colleagues in other departments. • Analyze problems, identifying alternative solutions, and implementing recommendations in support of the Company safety goals and objectives. • Identify potential or actual areas of non-compliance through regular auditing and inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken. • Review and develop profiles for classification of hazardous waste. • Responsible for timely disposal of process waste and waste finished goods. • Provide support to the Corporate Director of EH&S. • Perform other duties as needed to support the overall mission of the facility and the company.

To undertake the lead role for Property Services in the defence and management of legal claims to minimise costs and reputational impact. Carry out root cause analysis of claims to identify any problems to be addressed and any opportunities for reducing the incidence of legal disrepair.
Liaise with legal colleagues on individual cases as necessary and on more general issues such as legal procedures and interpretation of legislation. Available to attend Court to give evidence and represent the council.
Maintain a comprehensive database of all property related legal claims. Ensure that all deadlines are recorded on the database and monitor progress to ensure actions are completed within the deadlines.
Work collaboratively with delivery teams, service providers and stakeholders to ensure delivery is compliant with contracts, specifications and schedule of rates, fully documenting decision making and variations.
Establish and maintain good lines of communication with other key stakeholders, both Haringey Council and external bodies
Provide workload delivery, financial and contractor performance data for Heads of Service, Directors and Executive Team as and when required.
